Printing Ballot Papers At JEMC

October 6, 2013: Spokesman for Election Commission (EC) Bir Bahadur Rai said that the EC asked the Janak Education Materials Center (JEMC) in Bhaktapur to begin printing of the ballot papers for the proportional representation (PR) system providing the center with the sample ballot papers; the JEMC started off printing the ballot papers on Saturday night, according to the news on the ‘gorkhapatraonline.com’.

 

A squad of police officers has been providing the security for the printing of the ballot papers outside the JEMC whereas a team of the Nepal Army personnel has been guarding the printing in the JEMC.

 

Closed-circuit television cameras also have been installed in and around the JEMC and around 350 employees are appointed for the printing task, General Manager Jha said.  No other persons except for the essential staffs are allowed to enter the JEMC until the printing of ballot papers is done, General Manager Jha said.

 

The JEMC is printing 15 million ballot papers for the PR category and the printing will be done by November 8.

 

The EC will publish the final list of candidates filed for the direct elections on October 9. Then, the EC will ask the JEMC to print the ballot papers starting on October 11.
