Polarization Of Political Parties Once Again
By KTM Metro Reporter
January 9, 2012: after the seven-point deal the four political blocks such as UCPN-Maoist, NC, CPN-UML and UDMF had reached recently, Nepalis in general have thought that these parties would sail smoothly in completing the peace process and the constitution writing but the recent political development has shown that it is not so, and the polarization of the political parties has been recent development again.
Nepali Congress and CPN-UML leaders sat together with the leaders of small political parties to form a common platform against the UCPN-Maoist. Chairman of CPN-UML Jhalanath Khanal has said that the peace process has been in crisis and the government and the UCPN-Maoist need to be serious for completing the peace process.
Parliamentary Party Leader of NC Ram Chandra Poudel has said that his party has held the meeting of 15 political parties for putting pressure on the UCPN-Maoist to complete the peace process and the constitution writing not for grabbing power. Mr. Poudel has fought for the election to the position of prime minister for 18 times but not winning the election becoming a political comedian but he has not left the hope of becoming a prime minister. Looking at his current heavy body, Mr. Poudel must have gained the body weight five times the body he had once had when he was a minister first time showing how much he had eaten since becoming a minister.
Spokesperson for the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Chandra Praksah Khanal ‘Baldev’ has said that combatants opting for voluntary retirement package would not leave camps until the fate of 3200 combatants that have opted for integration into the Nepal Army but could not find slots because of the cap of 6,500 put on the number of PLA to be integrated is known; they should be either integrated into the Nepal Army or should receive additional financial compensation, ‘The Rising Nepal’ of today quotes ‘Baldev’.
NC leaders including its President Sushil Koirala have said that they are not for integrating anymore than the previously set number of 6,500 PLA members into the Nepal Army.
Speaking to the anchor of the ’antar-sambad’: morning program of the Radio Nepal on January 7, 2012, Former Commander of the PLA Jarnadan Sharma has said that the rank of various officers of the PLA members need to be defined and integrate into the same level of the rank in the Nepal Army; integration of the PLA into the Nepal Army would not be complete without it.
If these political leaders stick to their stand on the number of the PLA members to be integrated into the Nepal Army; certainly, they are going head-on confrontation again, and the army integration process would be never ending making the peace process and the constitution writing the victims.
If you listen to the lawmakers what they have been talking in the parliament you will find that they look more like half-mad people than the people’s representatives, as they have no feelings for the concerns of the people but blame each other for trying to get political advantages. They have proved that they are either really mad or are deliberately pretending to be mad for speaking anything they like and lying to the people for their political gains.
At the same time, the two poles represented by Prachanda and Mohan Vaidya Kiran of the UCPN-Maoist are to fuse into a single pole for consolidating the gains of the people’s movement and the people’s war. Vaidya wants to write a people’s constitution; what does it mean the reporter of this news does not know yet. However, both Prachanda and Vaidya have said that they are committed to the peace and a new constitution.
