Terai-Madhes Democratic Party submits its demands to PM

Leader of the newly formed political party called ‘Terai-Madhes Democratic Party,‘ Mahantha Thakur submitted an 11-point demand to Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala on Thursday, January 03, 2008. Talking to the reporter, Leader Thakur said that his party wants full autonomy for the Terai region and would not surrender to the government on this demand.

Until recently he had been the close-aide of Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirla, and had been with the Nepali Congress party for more than 40 years. However, he became one of the political dissidents and formed a new Terai party to work for the Terai people.
