India-Built Hospital Remains Unused In Kathmandu

Issue 46, November 14, 2010

By KTM Metro Reporter

November 09, 2010: At the request of Nepal, India has built a 200-bed Nepal Bharat Maitri Emergency and Trauma Centre in Kathmandu at the cost of Nepalese Rs 1490 millions but Nepal has not brought it into operation, yet because of the political instability, sify.com writes today.

If it is so, the Government of Nepal headed by Madhav Nepal rejected by the people but elected by the shameless legislators for money has done great disservice to the Nepalese people even though Nepal needs such a hospital urgently.

Mr. Madhav Nepal has allocated Rs 2 billion for giving subsidy on fertilizer but he has not found any money for running such an important hospital built by a friendly country. One thing is clear giving subsidy on agriculture means getting most of the subsidy back to his pocket but allocating money to the hospital will surely not hit back to his pocket. So, why he should allocate money to the hospital that will serve the people but not him.

One wonder is such a man has managed to stay on the office for thirteen months and stolen the money that will be enough for him to run his party and keep his cadres for many years to come. Despite the people’s rejection, Mr. Madhav Nepal will remain the leader of the CPN-UML for years to come.
