Breaking The Political Deadlock Or Not

December 21, 2012: Chairman of UCPN-Maoist Prachanda, UCPN-Maoist leader Amik Sherchan, NC President Sushil Koirala, NC General Secretary Krishna Prasad Sitaula, Chairman of CPN-UML Jhalanath Khanal, and Bijaya Kumar Gacchedar and Mahantha Thakur of UDMF met with President Dr Ram Baran Yadav today, and told him that they would reach a deal on a national unity government before the president leaves Nepal on Monday, December 24, 2012 for India for a weeklong official visit, according to the news posted by the THT ONLINE quoting ‘Annapurna post’ today.

Speaking to cadres at the NC Kanchanpur office today, NC central member Bimalendra Nidhi said that his party would not join the Bhattarai government, as the current political deadlock would not be broken with the current government in power, according to the RSS news posted on the thehimalayantimes.com today. NC leader Nidhi further said that only the NC-led government could hold the elections to a CA, as the current government had already failed in holding the self-announced elections.

Speaking at a press conference held to inform about the convention of the presidents of the NC regional committees, Vice-president of NC Ram Chandra Poudel today said that his party would launch a protest movement if the parties were to fail in arriving at an understanding on choosing a consensus Prime Minister on Saturday, the last day of the fifth deadline given by the President, as the NC and the opposition parties would be left with no choice other than to take to the streets, according to the news posted on the nepalnews.com today.
