Nervous Nepalese Politicians Say Weird things

March 07, 2010: speaking at the function held to celebrate the Women’s Festival of 2010 on the eve of 100th International Women’s Labor Day in Kathmandu, Prime Minister Madhav Nepal has said that he would leave the office of Prime Minister if the opposition garners a majority in the legislature. This is universally known political doctrine that Mr. Nepal need not say. However, he has been saying this thing repeatedly showing his nervousness.
Mr. Nepal has said that his government is to complete the writing of a new constitution but everybody knows his government is of a simple majority and completing the writing of a constitution requires two-third majority. How could Mr. Nepal claim for such an impossible thing?
Speaking to the reporters in Hetauda on March 6, 2010, one of the leaders of the Nepali Congress Prakash Man Singh has said that it is time for the Nepali Congress to form a new government including the Maoists, as the current government of Madhav Nepal has been the most incompetent and has not been serious even about law and order.
In Kathmandu, speaking to the reporters before departing for Japan on March 6, 2010, Vice-president Ram Chandra Poudel has said that the current government would not go out of office at any cost; the Maoists need to realize that they would not be able to change the current government.
Deputy Prime Minister Bijya Gacchedar has said that the current government is stable and would not fall at all; if it falls then the person of Terai origin should be the Prime Minster. Most probably, Mr. Gacchedar is dreaming of being a Prime Minister. Mr. Gacchedar has also said that the High Level Political Mechanism has no rights to transfer the power to the Maoists? Nervous of losing the power bought at a high cost, Mr. Gacchedar has forgotten that only the legislature has the authority to transfer the power.
Speaking to the reporters at press conference held in Dang on March 6, 2010, Former Minister for Information and Communication Krishna Bahadur Mahara has said that India is playing a political trick on Nepal to send of UNMIN disrupting the peace process so that it has monopoly on the political game in Nepal.
Speaking at a function held by the women department of the youth organization in Kathmandu on march 6, 2010, one of the leaders of CPN-UML Bam Dev Gautam said that if the constitution were not available on time the Nepal Army would capture the state power.
Speaking at the second conference of the Nevah State held at Kiritipur, one of the Deputies of the UCPN-Maoist Mohan Vaidya ‘Kiran’ has said that his party would demand the people’s constitution. However, he has not explain what the people’s constitution means.
Speaking at the third meeting of the Syangja-Kathmandu Republican Link Forum held in Syangja, one of the deputies of UCPN-Maoist Narayan Kaji Shrestha ‘Prakash’ has said that Nepalis would revolt if they do not have a new constitution by May 28, 2010.
