Govt For People’s Right To Information

February 1, 2012: speaking at the function held to mark the 27th anniversary of Nepal Television (NTV), Minister for Information and Communications Jaya Prakash Prasad Gupta yesterday has said that the government is ready for talks with the representatives of the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) if the classification of information has really caused them difficulty in collecting information, ‘The Rising Nepal’ of today writes. The minister has said that the government has decided to keep 140 types of information as classified after a committee led by the Chief Secretary following the laws has recommended them.

The minister has said that the classified information includes the information on the national security, criminal investigation and some others sensitive enough for making them classified.
