Two Ministers Sworn In

April 9, 2012: Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai administered the oath of office of ministries and secrecy two newly appointed ministers such as Raj Kishor Yadav to Minister for Information and Communication and Iqbal Ahmed to Minister for Agriculture and Cooperatives in presence of President Ram Baran Yadav at a ceremony at the President's Office, Shital Niwas today, Nepalnews.com writes. Both of them belong to Madheshi People’s Rights Forum-Republican (MPRF-R).

This has been necessary, as the Chairman of MPRF-R has landed in jail after the Supreme Court of Nepal convicted him of irregularities in amassing wealth beyond his earning capacity. Mr. Gupta held the portfolio of Minister for Information and Communication when he was convicted of wrongdoing. So, Mr. Gupta left the Ministry for jail making the position of the Minister vacant. The position of the Minister for Agriculture and Cooperatives became vacant after the prime minister fired the Minister for Agriculture Nandan Kumar Dutta on the recommendation of his party MPRF-R.
