UN Res-rep Calls On Chairman Prachanda

December 11, 2013: UN Resident representative in Nepal Jamie McGoldrick called on Chairman of UCPN-Maoist Prachanda at his Lazimpat residence yesterday to discuss the contemporary political issues, according to the RSS news on ‘gorkhapatraonline.com.’
At the meeting, Chairman Prachanda said that his party urged the government and bodies concerned to hold an investigation into the irregularities in the elections to the CA and hoped that his party would not deviate from the peace and constitution, according to Barshaman Pun present in the meeting.
Stating that his party was in favor of the peace and constitution, Chairman Prachanda said that issues raised about the elections should be rightfully addressed, his party was always ready to make the people empowered and his party would not make any unnecessary compromise on that.
UN Resident representative Goldrick enquired about election results and a new strategy of the UCPN-Maoist, and believed that a new constitution would be promulgated as soon as possible; to this end, UN was ready to provide necessary support to Nepal.
