Elections To Be Peaceful On November 19, 2013

November 16, 2013: at a news conference held yesterday, the Election Commission has said that the incidents of violence this election year have been less than the election year 2008. According to the monitoring team of the Election Commission, the incidents of clashes, and other kinds of violence have been minimal.

 

The home ministry yesterday has said that the correct approach of the security and the right security plan has made it possible to keep the incidents of violence at the election rallies and the election campaigns at minimum. In addition, the common folks have been very alert to tackle such incidents.

 

Chairman of CPN-Maoist Mohan Vaidhya yesterday refused to accept the stay order sent by the Supreme Court of Nepal ordering the 33-party alliance headed by his party to stop the shutdown of vehicular traffic targeted on disrupting the elections. Chairman Vaidhya has said that the Supreme Court has denied the rights to protest against the elections. The Supreme Court in its ruling has said that nobody has rights to violet the fundamental rights of the common folks to vote.

 

The home ministry yesterday has said that most of the arsonists and people involved in vandalism have been the cadres of the CPN-Maoist. The security has been taking legal actions against them. Most of the cadres terrorizing the common folks will be brought to justice.

 

Incidents of hurling petrol bombs on the running busses have been reported. However, no serious incidents have occurred elsewhere in Nepal. Election officers and ballot boxes have been transported to the different constituencies.

 

The election campaigns are closing midnight tonight, the Election Commission has said, serious violence of the election codes of conduct has not been reported so far. The elections will be smoothly and peacefully held on November 19, 2013.
