January 31, 2013: Head of State Dr Ram Baran Yadav has had separate meetings with the prime minister and leaders of the four major political parties today. The president has been concerned with the leaders squabbling over power, and some of them are even going to the streets to block the roads for preventing the prime minister and Chairman of UCPN-Maoist for reaching their destinations. Other opposition leaders have been begging the president to discharge the prime minister and turn over the chair of the prime minister to Sushil Koirala also the president but of NC.
During the meeting held at the Shital Newas today, Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai informed the head of state that the constituent assembly elections would be held by the end of May, as the process of building a consensus was going on among the political parties. “I told the President that the search for consensus is continuing by putting the election in the center, to hold it by the end of May after ending the current political deadlock,” the Prime Minister told journalists after the meeting, according to the news posted on gorkhapatraonline.com. During the meeting, Prime Minister Dr. Bhattarai urged the President to help build a consensus.
In the meeting with other leaders of political parties, the President urged them to build a consensus rather than going to the streets for protests.
Chairman of CPN-UML Jhalanath Khanal said that the opposition leaders have launched the street protests to force the ruling parties to build a consensus on holding elections. What a nice irony that they are protesting to build a consensus clearly indicating a consensus means something for them different than what a regular dictionary says.
Vice-president NC Ram Chandra Poudel said that the president should do something to ensure a national consensus. Mr. Poudel dose not understand it is not the business of the president to build a consensus.
Speaking at the broader people awareness meeting held by the Federal Democratic Republican Alliance (FDRA) at the Open Air Theatre in Kathmandu yesterday, Chairman of the FDRA and UCPN-Maoist Prachanda said that the alliance of the 21 parties also a symbol of new national unity and collective resonance of Nepali people, was formed to institutionalize the vital achievements of the past people’s movements. Chairman Prachanda also said that the FDRA came into being to guarantee not only the past and present accomplishments but also to lay foundation for the formation of newer, stronger and prosperous Nepal in the future, according to gorkhapatra.com news of today.
Chairman of UCPN-Maoist had asked the president of NC Sushil Koirala to take up arms and go to jungle and start off fighting if he has guts otherwise let us sit together and build a consensus on holding elections to a new CA.
President of NC Sushil Koirala in turn told the Chairman of UCPN-Maoist that he was going to the people not to jungle but the Chairman might go jungle if he liked. What a nice child-talks between the leaders.
