Corrupt Nepalese Leaders And Their Speeches

Issue 20, May 26, 2013

By KTM Metro Reporter

May 20, 2013: speaking at the interactions with the cadres in Pashupatinagar in Ilam yesterday, one of the senior leaders of CPN-UML KP Oli said that no sense of opposing the appointment of Lokman Singh Karki to the chief of Commission on Investigation into Abuse of Authority (CIAA). He also said that some leaders and cadres lost their ideology for the sake of positions, and money; they left the party for another but it would not make any dent to the party, according to the news in ‘gorkhapatra’ of today.

Mr Oli knew that Karki had been a tainted man, he was not fit for the high position of the chief of the CIAA but for the greed of money all the leaders of the four-party political mechanism including a leader like Mr Oli agreed on appointing Karki to the chief of the CIAA. Now, these guys have been shamelessly defending the appointment of Karki. So, it is hard to say when Nepal would be able to uproot the corruption like the appointment of Kakri. Surely, none could think of avoiding such corruption as long as the leaders like Mr Oli and his colleagues in the four-party political mechanism would rule this country.

Speaking at an event held by the reporters of Kaski in Pokhara on May 18, 2013, President of NC Sushil Koirala said that his party was the heart of the democracy, and his party would emerge as the largest party after the elections to a second CA, according to the news in ‘gorkhapatra’ of yesterday.

Mr Koirala has a different definition of his democracy. Once you were elected to the president of the party by a bunch of supporters probably paid, you could do whatever you liked brushing off the voices of the majority of the central committee members; and you could appoint any corrupt person to the constitutional body, for example Lokman Singh Karki to the chief of the CIAA.

Speaking at an event held in Dharan on May 18, 2013, Chairman of CPN-UML Jhalanath Khanal said that his party would emerge as the first one, according to the news in ‘gorkhapatra’ of yesterday. He did not say that his party would be a largest one but the first one in what, probably in corruption, and in appointing a tainted man like Karki to the most responsible office of the chief o the CIAA.

Welcoming Ms Urmila Arya to the UCPN-Maoist, and applying a red tika on her forehead at the party headquarters in Kathmandu on Saturday, May 18, 2013, Chairman of UCPN-Maoist Prachanda said that a single communist center was required. He also said that leaders of the CPN-UML needed to think seriously about the leaders quitting the CPN-UML and joining in the UCPN-Maoist, according to the news in ‘gorkhapatra’ of yesterday.

However, Chairman Prachanda should be careful not to welcome every leader and cadre willing to join in the UCPN-Maoist rather should keep only the honest and sincere leaders and cadres e in the party but the criminals and convicted leaders and cadres have been enjoying high positions in the UCPN-Maoist. Prachanda should remove such cancerous cells from the party otherwise it would not be different from the NC and the CPN-UML.

Leader of Nepal Sadbhavana Party Rajendra Mahato sat for the fast unto death at the Peace Garden in Kathmandu on Saturday, May 18, 2013 demanding to announce the date of election, as the government did not care about the fasting by his cadres, according to the news in ‘gorkhapatra’ of yesterday.

Mr Mahato could sacrifice his beautiful life for the election date but the government, and the four-party political mechanism in which he also had a say were not in a hurry to announce the date of the election but the understanding was that the elections would be held in the first week of November. So, why Mr Mahato needed to take such a life-threatening action, really it was a mystery.

Speaking at an interaction with the reporters in Mahendranagar yesterday, senior leader Sher Bahadur Deuba said that his party NC would win majority in the elections as did n 1991, and 2001, according to the news in ‘gorkhapata’ of today. But he did not say why Nepalis should vote for his party. His party has been against the 601 CA members, and for the one-percent threshold of votes for the proportional election according to his party boss Sushil Koirala for minimizing the representation of the ethnic people in the second CA. Would ethnic people vote for the NC, certainly not if they were for preserving their ethnicity.

Speaking at a news conference held in Dhangadhi yesterday, General Secretary of NC, Krishna Prasad Sitaula said that elections to the CA would be held by mid-December at any cost; the country could not sustain the crises if the CA election were not to hold by the mid-December. Responding to a query, Sitaula blamed Chairman of UCPN-Maoist Prachanda for not promulgating a new constitution, as Chairman Prachanda attempted to capture the state power violating the 12-point understanding reached in New Delhi according to the RSS news posted on ‘gorkhapatraonline.com.’

Mr Sitaula shamelessly covered up the fact that the four parties could not promulgate a new constitution because the NC and the CPN-UML were deadly against federalism and identity-based federal states whereas the UCPN-Maoist and the UDMF were for the federalism and the identity-based federal states. The then chairman of CA Subhas Nemwang did not take these issues to the CA for voting. So, Mr Nemwang was one of the main culprits that were responsible for the demise of the CA without promulgating a new constitution.
