Sri Lankan President Visits Nepal

On October 29, 2009 afternoon, Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa is arriving at Kathmandu. Minister for Foreign Affairs Sujata Koirala and Minister for Culture Dr Minendra Rijal will receive Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa at VVIP lounge of the International Airport in Kathmandu.

Sri Lankan President is visiting Nepal to discuss the multilateral issues concerning the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC). Currently, Sri Lanka is chairing the SAARC.

While in Nepal, Sri Lankan President will meet with the President of Nepal, Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, and will visit the birthplace of Lord Buddha, Lumbini.

In March 2009, Sri Lankan President cut short his visit to Nepal due to the terrorists’ attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team in Pakistan. So, he has to make this second visit.
