May 20, 2011: Air China is going to provide daily-air service between Kathmandu of Nepal and Lhasa of Tibet starting on August 01, 2011 according to the news posted on English.peopledaily.com on May 19, 2011. Air China started off flying the Lhasa-Katmandu route in 1987.

Air China is a state-run Chinese company that has been providing four flights: one flight each on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday a week between Kathmandu and Lhasa. The flight is of only one hour and ten minutes.

Air China is increasing the number of flights following the survey conducted on the previous passengers and the number of passengers anticipated to increase in this year's tourism market, said Zhang Ping, director of the marketing department for the Air China Tibet Branch.
