By KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu

The Kathmandu District Court (KDC) has rejected the cabinet decision on withdrawing the case against President of Reporters Club Rishi Dhamala and two other reporters on Friday, October 23, 2009 according to the Nepalnews.com.

The government withdrew the case against Dhamala on September 20, 2009, one day before Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal left Kathmandu for New York, USA, for attending 64th UN General Assembly, and included Dhamala in the entourage of the Prime Minister. The cabinet had taken the decision under pressure from Foreign Minister Sujata Koirala; Dhamala is known to have close ties with Koirala according to the Nepalnews.com news.

The police have arrested Dhamala and two reporters from his office at Putalisadak in Kathmandu on February 3, 2009 for their involvement in various criminal activities such as planting bombs and then setting them off, extortions, kidnapping and murders.
