February 5, 2012: speaking at the public educational trust in Kathmandu on Wednesday, Chairman of UCPN-Maoist Prachanda has said that the protracted transitional phase would end within a few days in a creative and unique way, ‘The Rising Nepal’ of February 2, 2012 writes.
"My party UCPN-Maoist, and I have a hefty challenge before us to conclude this transitional phase, and this is also an opportunity for the party. However, challenge will be bigger if the efforts meet an accident; we are fully devoted to conclude the ongoing peace process and write the constitution in favor of people," ‘The Rising Nepal’ quotes Prachanda.
Talking to reporters at Biratnagar Airport, Deputy Prime Minister Bijaya Kumar Gacchedhar said on Wednesday that the report submitted by the State Restructuring Commission was practical and all right to a large extent; the differences of opinion forwarded by three members of the commission were similar to those of the restructuring model of the Panchayati system, ‘The Rising Nepal’ of February 2, 2012 writes.
Mr. Gacchedhar also said that forwarding different opinions before the submission of the commission’s report, the three members of the commission violated the code of conduct; and supporting the opinions forwarded by the three members, Nepali Congress and CPN-UML proved that they were against federalism.
He said that the draft of 14 states submitted by the Constituent Assembly and of the 11 states by the commission are similar; if an agreement on this matter couldn’t be reached with the parties holding different opinions, state restructuring would be done by the majority votes; the report submitted by the majority members of the commission embraced all regions, ethnic groups and linguistic communities of the state; the two members representing Nepali Congress and one from CPN-UML presented an unrealistic opinion following the directions of their respective parties.
