Concern of Chairman for Delay In Writing Constitution
By KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu
On Monday, September 7, 2009, in a meeting with Prime Minister Madhav Nepal, Chairman of the Constituent Assembly (CA) Subas Nemwang has urged the Prime Minister to end the political deadlock working for the consensus politics and expedite the writing of a new constitution, and to end the blockade of the legislature negotiating with the leaders of the United Communist Party of Nepal-Maoist that has been holding the legislature hostage demanding to discuss the unconstitutional move of the President according to the state-run newspaper ‘Gorkhapatra’ of September 8, 2009.
Ignoring the real political situation, Prime Minister Madhav Nepal has said that he is confident in completing the peace process, as leaders of all political parties are committed to it and has asked the international community to create an environment conducive to it. However, the deeply divided legislature has been unable to work, as the Maoist legislators have continued to block the business of it. First, the Madheshi, then NC and CPN-UML legislators have held the legislature hostage. Now, it is the turn of the Maoist legislators to hold it hostage. Some other legislators must be waiting for taking a turn to block the legislature. The legislators have been working for their respective political parties not for their constituents. What is the use of such a legislature?
