Study on impact of global financial crisis on Nepalese economy

On Sunday, November 02, 2008, the Government of Nepal set up a team to study the impact of global financial crisis on Nepalese economy. Vice-chairman of National Planning Commission Dr. Pitambar Sharma heads the team. Other members of the team are Acting Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank Krishna Bahadur Manandhar, Secretary to Ministry of Finance Rameshwore Khanal, Economic Advisor at the Ministry of Finance Shriram Poudel, President of Federation of Nepal Chamber of Commerce and Industry Kush Kumar Joshi, and President of Nepal Bankers’ Association Radhesh Pant. Joint Secretary to Ministry of Finance Bimal Wagle is the member secretary.

The team has the mandate to study the impact of the global financial crisis on the exports from Nepal, remittances received from the Nepalis working abroad and the tourism industry in Nepal.
