Maoists Shut Down Business Across Nepal

On December 20, 2009, the first day of the three-day whole-Nepal shutdown Maoists have called for, all sorts of businesses have come to standstill across the country. Maoists have permitted to run the vehicles belonging to the diplomatic missions, reporters and ambulances this time.
Minor scuffles broke out between security police and protestors across Nepal. Returning from Copenhagen, Prime Minister Madhav Nepal has changed his route to return to his residence from airport due to the skirmishes between the police and protestors at Baneswore in Kathmandu.
Maoists have been protesting the President’s unconstitutional move on directly writing a letter to the army chief abusing the Interim Constitution of Nepal of 2007.
