Nepal Stands By China For Repressing Anti-China Voices

August 18, 2011: speaking at a reception hosted by the high-profile Chinese delegation headed by Zhou Yangkang yesterday, Deputy Prime Minister holding the portfolio of Minister for Home Affairs Narayan Kaji Shrestha has said that the relations between Nepal and China are cordial, mutually beneficial, and non-interference to internal matters of others following the five principles of peaceful co-existence, ‘The Rising Nepal’ of today writes.

"I reiterate our firm commitment of One-China policy, fully recognizing Tibet and Taiwan as inalienable parts of the People’s Republic of China and firm in our conviction in not allowing our territory for launching any activities of the elements recognized as inimical by our neighbors," ‘The Rising Nepal’ quotes Mr. Shrestha.

True to the Nepalese minister’s words, his police have detained some Tibetan exiles as a preemptive action to stop any possible anti-China rally in Kathmandu while the high-profile Chinese delegation is in Kathmandu.

In the reply speech, Leader of the high-profile Chinese delegation Zhou Yangkang has said that the Chinese people respect independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of Nepal and support the development system chosen by the Nepalese.

"We are convinced that with the joint efforts of all political parties, and the people, Nepal is bound to achieve national stability, economic development and harmony among all ethnic groups and social progress," ‘The Rising Nepal’ of today quotes Zhou.

Zhou thanked the Nepalese government for its steadfast support for China over issues related to Tibet and Taiwan, expressing the hope that Nepal would continue to prevent Tibetan separatists from using Nepalese soil to act against China according to the news posted on the News.xinhuanet.com.

While accentuating the time-honored friendship between the two nations, Zhou also conveyed Beijing's sincere wish that Nepalese political leaders can bring peace and stability back to their country as soon as possible, the Chinese news says.
