Recommendation For Appointing Lokman Singh Karki To CIAA

March 24, 2013: the ‘High-level Political Committee’ of UCPN-Maoist, NC, CPN-UML and UDMF had recommended Lokman Singh Karki to the Chief of Commission on Investigation into Abuse of Authority (CIAA) provoking strong reactions from the media people, and from the CPN-UML cadres.
The irony is that the CIAA had convicted him and made him not eligible for the government services in the future. If the same man becomes the chief of the CIAA what would happen to this state anti-corruption agency you could imagine. Another irony is that former Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai had defended the recommendation for the appointment of Karki to the Chief of CIAA causing shame not only on him but also on his party. Nepalese politicians had been so much shameless that they would be ready to eat even human feces if you paid them sufficient amount of money.
The recommendation made by the ‘High-level Political Committee’ of UCPN-Maoist, NC, CPN-UML and UDMF for Mr. Karki’s appointment to the Chief of CIAA has something to do with the cash contributions to these four parties. Mr. Karki has millions of spare rupees; he needed to redeem the lost glory of his past position as the chief secretary. So, he must have contributed millions of rupees to the four parties that needed a lot of money for going to polls.
Former Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala also had appointed him to the prestigious civil-service position after he contributed a large sum of money to him. Most of the reporters with insight in the performances of Girija Prasad Koirala knew that he did not appoint anybody to the ministerial positions or any other posiitons without significant payments. He demanded two-year salary in advance of anybody willing to join the Foreign Service.
