Hindu Extremists Threat Nepal Church

August 14, 2012: a person belonging to an underground Hindu group: Nepal Defense Army had made phone calls to a Catholic church asking for money but not specifying the amount otherwise they would bomb the church; the group had bombed the church in 2009 killing three persons, writes ‘The Himalayan Times’.

Nepal was known for religious harmony. Persons of any faith can enter into the Buddhist shrines. They can go around the Hindu temples. Nepalis of different faith live in harmony. However, a Hindu extremist group had claimed to fight for restoring Nepal as a Hindu state. Nepal had been a secular state since the Constituent Assembly declared it a Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal and a secular state in 2008.
