Nepal To Be Graduated To A Developing Country In Ten Years

Issue 26, June 30, 2013

By KTM Metro Reporter

June 25, 2013: The draft of the 13th periodic plan prepared by the National Planning Commission (NPC) has targeted to reduce the poverty to 18 per cent from the prevailing 23.8 per cent. The draft strategy of the three-year-plan (2013 -2016) made public in Kathmandu yesterday at an event has set a long term target to graduate Nepal to a developing country from the current status of a least developed country within the next ten years, according to the news on ‘gorkhapatraonline.com’.

The main strategy proposed in the three-year plan is to improve the living standard of the people by alleviating poverty. The next important strategy supposed to adopt is the empowerment of the targeted people and minimization of the negative impacts of climate change on the people’s lives.

Presenting the draft plan at the event, NPC joint secretary Pushpalal Shakya said that the NPC was going to bring a three-year plan as an alternative to the five-year-plan as there was no stable government in the country.

The government has planned to formulate the policies and programs following the periodic plan, and then submit a new budget.
