CPN-UML Candidate For CA Elections Shot in Bara

October 5, 2013: two masked men riding on an Indian license plate motorbike shot CPN-UML candidate for the CA elections Mahammad Alam at the Bara Constituency No. 4 yesterday morning, according to the RSS news on the ‘gorkhapatraonline.com’.
Alam was seriously injured in the incident that took place at 11:30 am. The injured Alam received treatment at Birgunj National Medical College and then airlifted to Kathmandu for further treatment.
Alam has received bullet injuries on his forehead and his health condition has been described as serious, according to the National Medical College.
The Bara District Police Office has been searching for the unidentified persons and has deployed police personnel in different suspected places.
Following the incident, the Election Commission has urged the government to provide the candidates with full security so that such incidents would not repeat in the future.
