Bill On Enforced Disappearances

October 12, 2011: speaking to the representatives of different associations of the families of the enforced disappearances at his official residence in Kathmandu yesterday, Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai has said that the government has been taking time to register the bill on enforced disappearances at the parliament due to the NC and CPN-UML; he has serious discussion with the leaders of NC and CPN-UML on Monday, October 10, 2011; he has been pushing them hard for their cooperation on this bill; once the parliament passes this bill, the next day he would set up a Commission on Enforced Disappearances, ‘gorkhapatra’ of today writes.
The prime minister has said that he could feel the pains of the disappearances of their loved ones but he has been facing the problems of providing the families of the victims of the enforced disappearances with the relief the government has declared. However, he has said that he is determined to provide the children of the enforced disappearances with education even changing the legal provisions if they stand in its way.
Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai has said that he has been in the office of the prime minister entirely due to the contributions made by the martyrs, the disappeared and the injured people. He has promised that he would make the dreams of those brave people come true.
Chairperson of Society of Families of Disappeared People Ek Raj Bhandari has said that the Maoist leaders have shied away from making public the whereabouts of the disappeared people.
