On February 14, 2009, speaking at the function held by All Nepal Trade Union Federation (ANTUF) affiliated to the Maoists in Lalitpur, Prime Minister and Chairman of UCPN-Maoist Prachanda told his party cadres to be ready for another situation, as the current situation would not last forever; and his party has to act as dictated by a situation.
On February 15, 2009, in the meeting with the team of the delegation of the Chinese Communist Party, Prime Minister Prachanda assured the team of not allowing anybody to hold any activities in Nepal against the Chinese Government and of sticking to the one-China policy of Nepal.
On February 15, 2009, Finance Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai said that the students of the Schools that have not paid taxes would not be allowed to take School Leaving Certificate (S.L.C.) examinations.
The Kathmandu police said that journalist Rishi Dhamala allegedly involved in illegal activities would be kept in the police custody for a few more days for completing the investigation into his involvement in the activities of Ranabir Sena. The police arrested Dhamala on February 3, 2009.
In a meeting with the visiting delegation of British parliamentarians at his residence on February 16, 2009, Prime Minister Prachanda told the members of the delegation that the Government of Nepal had no intention of stopping the recruitment of Nepalis in the British Gurkha Army.
