Legislative Committee On Women And Children

Issue 49, December 6, 2009

BY KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu

On December 2, 2009, the Legislative Committee on Women and Children interrogated Home Minister Bhim Rawal concerning the lukewarm position the Home Ministry has taken to punish the policemen responsible for raping their woman colleague, and the transfer of the woman DIG Prativa Thapa who has initiated an action against the policemen accused of raping their woman colleague.

Answering to the questions of the committee members on camera, Home Minister Bhim Rawal has said that the government has been seriously taking actions against the culprit, and his ministry has transferred DIG Prativa Thapa because she has completed her task of taking legal actions against the culprit.

Bhim Rawal has been lying on camera to save the culprits. The government has not taken any actions against the culprits, as those policemen raping their woman colleague have been working regularly rather than being behind bars warranting the women in the far western region to take the issue to the streets.

DIG Prativa Thapa has not completed her job of taking legal actions against the policemen involved in such criminal activities. The Home Ministry has transferred her from the western region.
