Decision On Forming A Government Under Chief Justice

February 17, 2013: leaders of four major political parties such as UCPN-Maoist, NC, CPN-UML and UDMF has not made a decision on forming a new government under the sitting Chief justice yet but they have formed an eight-member taskforce to build a consensus on the disputed issues such as type of a government to hold elections, amendment to the constitution, removing legal hurdles to elections, balance and control of power, judiciary, legislature, making appointments to the constitutional bodies, appointments of commissioners to the Election Commission, and prepare a package following the values and principles of democracy, according to ‘Gorkhapatra’ of today.

Members of the taskforces are Krishna Bahadur Mahara and Khim La Devkota of UCPN-Maoist, Bimalendra Nidhi and Dr Minendra Rijal of NC, Bhim Rawal and Agni Kharel of CPN-UML, and Hridayesh Tripathi and Jitendra Dev of UDMF. The taskforce is supposed to submit their report on the package deal today at the meeting of four major political parties to be held at the office of the president at 2:00 pm. If they agree on the package deal then only they would make a decision on a new government.
