Speaker Urge Maoist Legislators Not To Block Legislature
By KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu
On November 25, 2009, talking to the reporters at his office, the Speaker of the legislature has urged the Maoist legislators not to block the business of the legislature, as the most important Bill on Enforcement of Republic has been registered at the secretariat of the legislature, and passing of this Bill is of the utmost important to the fledgling republic. The Speaker has also said that the legislature needs at least a couple of days for discussing the Bill and then passing it. The number of days, the Maoist legislators have opened the legislature has ended on Thursday, November 26, 2009. They are going to block the business of the legislature again demanding to debate the unconstitutional move of the President on directly writing a letter to the army chief overriding the Prime Minister’s decision on firing the army chief.
The Speaker must realize he has also been responsible for the Maoist legislators blocking the business of the legislature, as he denied the legislators debating the President’s unconstitutional move. If he has allowed the legislators to debate the move then the current political deadlock would not have been. Thanks to the undemocratic action of the Speaker on not allowing the matter of the national important to debate in the legislature, the political deadlock has been order of the day.
