CPN-UML Legislator Dol Bahadur (DB) Karki Held For Bribery

August 31, 2010: after receiving the complaint about the CPN-UML Legislator Dol Bahadur Karki and his accomplice Swami Brahmananda Udasi accepting Rs 100,000 from a person, the Commission on Investigation into Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has filed a case against them at the Special Court today. A special bench has ruled to keep the duo under the judicial custody for 20 days for the police investigation.

Talking to the reporters on premises of the Special Court at Babar Mahal in Kathmandu, legislator Karki has said that the top leadership of his party has framed him for such bribery, as he has been close to Bamdev Gautam that has not in a speaking term with the current officiating Prime Minister Madhav Nepal.

The CIAA has charged legislator Karki and his accomplice Swami Brahmananda Udasi with taking Rs. 100,000 from a person with the promise of securing the job of Inspector for him in the Nepal Police; however, legislator Karki has claimed that the man has donated the money for the cataract operation of the Swami.
