Visit of Indian Foreign Secretary

On February 18, 2009, at the end of two-day visit to Nepal, Indian Foreign Secretary Shivshankar Menon told the reporters that he discussed with the Nepalese Prime Minister and the Foreign Minister on the enforcement of the bilateral agreements the two governments had signed during the visit of the Nepalese Prime Minister to India.
Thaindian.com reported that the Indian Secretary has categorically rejected the proposal put forward by opposition leader and former Nepalese Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala for India and China forming a joint Nepal mechanism.
