Paying Tribute To Martyr Durgananda Jha

Issue 05, February 03, 2013

By KTM Metro Reporter

January 31, 2013: who could imagine that one of the Nepalese mothers had given the birth to the son that gave life for making Nepal a republic even in 1962 when the mighty monarchy seemed to be even everlasting? That brave son was the martyr Durgananda Jha.

We need to tell the so-called leader pf Rastriya Janamorcha Chitra Bahadur KC and his followers such as the leaders of NC and the CPN-UML that no matter what they would do they would not be able to waste the blood spilled by the martyrs including Durgananda Jha that had fought for republic and federal democratic republic.

Durgananda Jha had hidden a bomb in a bouquet to kill the killer of democracy the then-despotic king Mahendra and end the tyrannical monarchy once and for all. The bomb went off but it did not kill the despot but it had been an excuse for the most incompetent police that served the tyrannical regime to arrest about two dozens innocent people and torture them for coercing them to accept the thing they had not done. However, Durgananda Jha himself escaped to India.

Knowing that the innocent people had suffered for his deed, Durgananda Jha came back to Nepal to face the possible death penalty but he knew that he was dying for the sake of making Nepal a republic.

While talking about republic we should not forget Ramraja Prasad Singh that had bravely came out against the monarchy for making Nepal a republic in the early 1970s, and thousands of the People’s Liberation Army that fought for republic in a decade long war starting in 1996 and ending in 2006, and finally hundred of Madheshi Nepalis that fought for federalism and federal states in 2008.

Many brave Nepalis had spilled their blood for Federalism and federal states but some of the so-called leaders have been going against the federal setup making themselves liable to punishment by the people.
