Anniversary Of Commission On Investigation Into Abuse Of Authority
By KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu
February 11 is the anniversary of the Commission On Investigation Into Abuse Of Authority that is set up for controlling corruption and abuse of authority in Nepal. However, the current government is in no mood to strengthen it appointing eligible people to the Chief Commissioner and other member commissioners. Let the positions of Chief Commissioner and other member commissioners remain vacant, the current government has disabled this so-called autonomous state-body.
Even worse is the Constituent Assembly members have prepared a draft constitution making provisions for less power to it. The irony is that the people’s representatives sent to formulate a new constitution with more power to such anti-corruption agency has decided to curb its power.
