Issue 04, January 22, 2012

By KTM Metro Reporter

January 21, 2012: NC and CPN-UML lawmakers have continued to obstruct the House session demanding the government revoke the decision on giving the legal status to the decisions made by the People’s Government of the Maoists during the conflict period. NC and CPN-UML leaders have committed not to run the House session until the government corrects the decision made going against the Interim Constitution and the Seven-point deal the four major power centers such as UCPN-Maoist, NC, CPN-UML and UDMF have reached.

Concerning the obstruction of the House session, the Speaker has met with the prime minister at the latter’s official residence, Baluwatar yesterday and has discussed the ways and means of sorting out the problem of the House session not running smoothly. Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai has assured the Speaker of resolving the problem by the coming Sunday following the seven-point deal the major parties had reached on November 1, 2011.

At the same time, NC and CPN-UML leaders have held a meeting with leaders of fourteen minor parties at the office of the NC Parliamentary party, Singhadurbar, and have agreed on continuing the obstruction of the House session until the government rolls back the decision on giving a legal status to the decisions made by the people’s government of the Maoists in the past.
