Kathmandu: Chinese Overseas Group Company has imported to introduce a modern tunnel-digging machine for digging 12.200 km tunnel from the Babai River to Bheri River for passing the water of the Bheri River to Babai River at the cost of NPR 12 billions for irrigating 50,000 hector land, and for producing 48 MW electricity under the Bheri-Babai Multi-purpose Project; the project is anticipated to complete in 2020; the Chinese company has received the contract on the job; the tunnel alone costs NPR 10 billions, the news in the ‘artha bazaar’ of “gorkhapatra today stated.
Thirty-five containers carrying the parts of the machine have arrived at the project site, and five have been cleared of the Custom Office and are heading to the project site. Most of the parts of the machine are made in China; some of them are in USA; the assembly of the parts has been started of, the news stated.
