Anarchic Students

Issue 28, July 12, 2009

By KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu

On July 5, 2009, students’ groups belonging to the Nepali Congress (NC) and the Communist Party of Nepal-Unified Marxist and Leninist (CPN-UML) fought against each other concerning the issue of the contract for a job of civil works at the Tri-chandra Campus. The CPN-UML students have charged the NC students of forcing the campus administration to award the job for the civil works to the contractor favored by them. The NC students in turn have charged the CPN-UML students of bringing the cadres of the youth organization called Youth Force of the CPN-UML to attack them with pistols and other hand weapons injuring their leaders with bullet wounds and knife wounds. Probably, this is the result of Chairman of CPN-UML Jhalanath Khanal inciting his Youth Force cadres to fight back.

The NC students have blocked the road passing through the Tri-chandra campus burning tires in protest against the murderous behavior of the CPN-UML students causing traffic chaos in the area.
