Defense Minister Warns Chief of Army staff

On June 12, 2009,Defense Minister Miss Bidhya Bhandari has called Chief of Army Staff Rukmangad Katuwal over to her office and has warned him of not indulging in publicizing the matters that will adversely affect the political talks going on among the political party leaders according to the morning news of the state-run Radio Nepal aired on June 13, 2009. Talks have been going on between the United Communist Party of Nepal-Maoist (UCPN-Maoist) and the Communist Party of Nepal-Unified Marxist and Leninist (CPN-UML) to resolve the political deadlock caused by the obstruction of the parliamentary sessions by the UCPN-Maoist members demanding the President rectifying his unconstitutional step.

Recently, the army headquarters has been releasing the news of taking actions against Second-in-Command Kul Bahadur Khadka and even preparing for court-martialing him for the neglect of duty.
