By KTM Metro Reporter

March 26, 2012: the Indian news agency called IANS quoting the Chinese news agency Xinhua has reported that Nepal and China yesterday agreed to enhance trade relations and economic ties between them.

"I am confident that our cooperation will move forward quickly with more exchanges," said Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Yang Houlan at the 12th annual general meeting (AGM) of the Nepal-China Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NCCCI) held here Sunday, reported Xinhua.

Chinese Ambassador Yang and Nepalese businessmen focused on the trade relations and the promotion of economic ties between Nepal and China at the AGM. Speaking the function, the Chinese ambassador has said that his government has encouraged the strong and reputed companies to invest in Nepal and promote bilateral economic relations.

Speaking at the same platform, Nepalese Minister for Finance Barshaman Pun said, "After the visit of Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao, the environment of trust between the two countries has been strengthened making available immense possibilities of the Chinese investment in Nepal and we are open to the Chinese investment."

However, the trade between Nepal and China, and the Chinese investment in Nepal are still very small in comparison to the trade between Nepal and Indian and the Indian investment in Nepal.

Nepalis and Indian share a common cultural heritage whereas Chinese have a little common thing with Nepalis except for the Buddhism.
