Serving Pilgrims On Mahashivaratri Day
By KTM Metro Reporter February 7, 2012: the Pashupati Area Development Trust (PADT) has set up 10 sub-committees to manage the festival and provide pilgrims with all services including the night service during the Mahashivaratri Festival to be held on February 20, ‘The Rising Nepal’ of February 6, 2012 writes. On top of the 10 Sub-committees, the minister for culture coordinates a 200 plus-member committee to manage security, food, sanitation, drinking water, rest rooms, queues, shoes and accommodation to the pilgrims during the festival. They have been making preparation for ensuring all devotees get the view of Lord Pashupatinath easier and faster than used to be. Hundreds of Sadhus come four days before the Mahashivaratri Day and leaves four days after. PADT provides Sadhus with all sorts of provisions including hashish for smoking for eight days. Thereafter, the PADT says bye to Sadhus giving them the bus fares to travel to their destinations. Once some Sadhus had even asked for airfares to travel their destinations.
