Place On Hold The Case Against Officials Of Tax Redemption Commission

Kathmandu: The Supreme Court has ordered the Special Court to put on hold the lawsuit filed against the officials of the Tax Redemption Commission by the Commission On Investigation Into Abuse of Authority until the ruling of the habeas corpus petition filed by the spouse of the arrested Director General of the Inland Revenue Department Chudamani Sharma by the full bench of the Supreme Court, the news in “gorkhapatra” of today stated.

 

Hearing on the habeas corpus petition filed by the spouse of the arrested Director General of the Inland Revenue Department Chudamani Sharma, the joint bench of Cholendra Shumsher JBR and Prakash Man Singh Raut has ordered to submit it to the Full Bench of the Supreme Court, as the issues stated in the habeas corpus petition have the implication of complicated constitutional matters, the news stated.

 

Commission On Investigation Into Abuse Of Authority filed a lawsuit against three officials such as Chudamani Sharma: the suspended Director General of Inland Revenue Department also the member secretary to the Tax Redemption Commission, Lumba Dhoj Mahat: Chairperson of Tax Redemption Commission, and Umesh Prasad Dhakal: member for causing the revenue loss of more than NPR 20 billions waving taxes including the VAT the customers had paid. Mahat and Dhaka are on the run.
