Calendar Of Operation for Completing Crafting Of New Constitution

December 3, 2011: the Dispute Resolution Sub-committee of the Constitutional Committee (CC) yesterday proposed the calendar of operation of completing the crating of a new constitution and promulgating it within the coming six months.

According to the calendar of operation, the Constituent Assembly (CA) prepares the first draft of a constitution within the period from January 10 to 29, 2012. The government submits the report on the State Restructuring Commission at the CA by January 29, 2012 and the political parties resolve the controversial issues of the state restructuring by February 12, 2012 making possible to prepare the first draft of a new constitution in between February 13 to 28, 2012.

If all these things go as scheduled, then the first draft of a new constitution will be published in the national gazette on March 5, 2012, ‘The Rising Nepal’ of today writes.

After the publication of the first draft of a constitution, it goes for the public opinions from March 23 to April 28. Following the feedback from the public, the CC would review the draft to include the public opinions in a new constitution in between March 29 to Apr 12, and submit it to the CA for its review from April 13 to 20, 2012.

Members of the CA approve all the articles of the new constitution during the period of from Apr 21 to May 20. Then, the CA prepares the final draft of the new constitution during the period of from May 20 to 26 and finally the chairman of the CA approves the new constitution. Then, the President promulgates the new constitution by May 27, 2012 ‘The Rising Nepal’ of today writes referring to the calendar of operation.
