CPN-Maoist-Vaidhya Not Against Elections Says Badal

Issue 14, April 7, 2013

By KTM Metro Reporter

April 4, 2013: Speaking at a press meet held by CPN-Maoist Mithila state committee in Lahan on April 1, General-Secretary of CPN-Maoist Ram Bahadur Thapa 'Badal' said that his party was not against the Constituent Assembly (CA) elections but was against the formation of the current government and its undemocratic decisions, according to the news on the ‘gorkhapatraonline.com’ of today.

He claimed that the current government would not be able to hold the CA elections and the Interim Election Council would fall from the office by November after failing to hold the election. The attempt to hold elections was just a show off.

“The government formed by the decision of the four-party syndicate has no right to hold the election as its very formation is undemocratic,” said Thapa, adding that the government was merely formed to oust the previous Dr. Baburam Bhattarai-led government.

Stating a consensus should be built among the political parties to form a constitutional government, he said that the current government was not only undemocratic but also unconstitutional.

“Our party had called for an all-party round-table meeting or at least the formation of a joint national government for the promulgation of a people’s constitution,” he said.

He alleged that the four parties were trying to impose dictatorship in the country by concentrating all powers of executive, judiciary and legislative forming a government under the leadership of sitting Chief Justice Khila Raj Regmi.

Talking to the reporters in the district headquarters Inaruwa on April 1, Chairman of Rastriya Prajantra Party-Nepal Kamal Thapa said that the four major political parties were trying to run away from the Constituent Assembly (CA) elections, according to the news on the ‘gorkhapatraonline.com’ of today.
