Federalization of Nepalese journalists announced the nation-wide protest against the killing of a reporter Birendra Shah abducted and killed by the Maoists for disclosing their misdeeds.

Maoist Chairman Prachanda and Home Minister Krishna Bahadur Sitaula had promised to make the whereabouts of the reporter Shah but both of them failed in finding any evidences of his whereabouts by Saturday, November 03, 2007.

On Sunday, November 04, 2007, the police sent by Home Minister Sitaula mercilessly beat the reporters staging a sit-in rally at the entrance to the secretariat building called Singhadurbar in Kathmandu to protest the killing of their colleague. The police also took 14 reporters into custody. Later in the evening, the police released them.
