Indian Government Refuses Peaceful Protest In Delhi

June 7, 2011: one of the campaigners against corruption in India, Anna Hazare has decided to sit fasting at Jantarmantar in Delhi on June 8, 2011 in protest against the police raid on yoga guru Ramdev and the peacefully sleeping his followers at the Ramlila ground on the night of June 4 and 5.
Today, the India government refuses to give Mr. Hazare a permit to peacefully protest against the police raid on the yoga guru and his followers stating it might cause disturbances but followers of Mr. Hazare have already made preparation for such a peaceful protest and they are going ahead with their protest program and ready to get arrested if the government wants so.
The government of Manmohan Singh steered by President of Congress (I) Sonia Gandhi has shown its determination to continue the corruption endemic in the Indian politics and administration refusing to give in to the demands of the anti-corruption campaigners for bringing back the black money stashed in foreign banks, confiscating the black money and punishing the criminals that have kept the black money in foreign banks. The opposition leaders charge the government of Manmohan Singh with thriving in the black money, and naturally such a government would not take any actions on controlling the corruption.
Some people even ask what sorts of democracy India has if the government does not permit the people to launch a peaceful protest against the barbaric police actions on the people sleeping at night. The government has been dictatorial refusing even a peaceful protest the rights bestowed upon them by the constitution.
The Asian Human Rights Commission (AHRC) has received information from the Human Rights Alert (HRA) that the 12 Maratha Light Infantry stationed at Patsoi in Imphal West district of Manipur has tortured to death a young man in custody. Upon information concerning the murder, the local police have concluded that the case is one of suicide in custody, without conducting any investigation, within hours after the murder. It is alleged that the state police is trying to cover-up the murder and torture as suicide, as it has done in most other previous occasions when persons taken into custody by the military and para-military units stationed in Manipur die while in custody.
