In Preparation For Fifth Round Of Prime Ministerial Election

August 12, 2010: the Nepalese legislature is holding a fifth round of election for a new Prime Minister on August 18, 2010. In preparation for the election, the central committee meeting of the CPN-UML held at its Balkhu office in Kathmandu has decided to request the candidates for a Prime minister to pull out of the contest, as none of the majority government will be able to complete the writing of a new constitution.
However, at the meeting with Chairman of CPN-UML Jhalanath Khanal held today morning, Nepali Congress vice-president and prime ministerial candidate Ram Chandra Poudel has flatly rejected the request for polling out of the contest for a new Prime Minister, and has even said that Maoist chairman Prachanda’s willingness to pull out his candidacy is only his strategic plan to create illusion. Poudel has accused the CPN-UML and the Madheshi parties of not voting him forgetting their national responsibilities.
Chairman of UCPN-Maoist Prachanda has agreed to withdraw from the prime ministerial race if his rival Nepali Congress candidate Ram Chandra Poudel also does the same, Chairman of CPN-UML Jhalanath Khanal has said after the meeting with Prachanda, his deputies Narayankaji Shrestha and Baburam Bhattarai.
