Burning Vehicles And Looting Election Materials

October 28, 2013: some unidentified arsonists set fire to the parked vehicle belonging to Prahlad Lamichhane: the UCPN-Maoist candidate at the Makawanpur Constituency No.3 on the Saturday night, according to the RSS news posted on the ‘gorkhapatraonline.com’

 

The firefighters have immediately brought the fire under control but they could not save the vehicle, according to the UCPN-Maoist district committee members. They blamed the CPN-Maoist cadres for the arson.

 

The jeep has been completely destroyed, said the police. Candidate Lamichhane demanded the local administration to take strong action against the culprits. A search for the arsonists is underway and actions will be taken against them, said Superintendent of Police (SP) Ganesh Bahadur Air at the District Police Office, Makawanpur.

 

Police have arrested a person on the charge of setting fire to a jeep used by Mohan Giri, candidate of the UCPN-Maoist at the Constituency No. 4 of the Kanchanpur district, according to the news on the ’gorkhapatraonline.com’. A team of the District Police Office at the Mahendranagar area arrested the District member of the CPN-Maoist Kailash Lawad for setting fire to the vehicle.

 

A group of the CPN-Maoist cadres looted election materials from the cadres of the UCPN-Maoist at Pipaladi on Saturday. Cadres of UCPN-Maoist said that cadres of the CPN-Maoist also warned them of not entering the villages for campaigning. District Member of UCPN-Maoist Ishwor Sunar said that flags and banners kept at the party office at Bansaha were also torn off.
