Prime Minister Returns From the Rio+ Summit Held In Brazil

Issue 27, July 1, 2012

By KTM Metro Reporter

June 25, 2012: returning from the Rio+ summit held in Brazil today afternoon, Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai demonstrated his high mood and told the reporters at the VVIP lounge of the International Airport in Kathmandu that he would leave the office only after turning over the power to the elected prime minister.

Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai brushed aside the opposition parties' demands for his resignation saying he would turn over power only to an elected Prime Minister; his government was duly elected by the majority votes of lawmakers; and his government was still in the majority when the parliament was dissolved.

The NC unleashed its cadres to protest the arrival of the prime minister at the International Airport in Kathmandu. The NC cadres stoned Prime Minister Bhattarai on his vehicle and blocked the vehicle on the street. The security in turn used their batons to hit those unruly cadres to clear the way for the car carrying the prime minister. The security also put about fourty of NC cadres in a number of security vans and took them in custody until the prime minister reached the official residence at Baluwatar, Kathmandu.

In a statement released in Kathmandu, the NC protested the security hitting its cadres claiming its cadres were for holding a peaceful rally against the prime minister but remained silence in the rough behavior of the NC cadres.
