NC Opts For Fresh Elections

October 31, 2012: NC leaders at the central committee held today decided to go to the polls for freshly electing a CA rather than reviving the dissolved CA. Vice-president Ram Chandra Poudel and Senior leader Sher bahadur Deuba had been for reviving the dissolved CA.
"The central committee meeting of the main opposition party held under the chairmanship of party president Sushil Koirala decided to go for fresh polls to end the current political and constitutional crisis," said Prakash Man Singh, general secretary of the party. "The party has also demanded formation of a national consensus government to ensure free and fair elections," he told PTI after the meeting.

According to him, some leaders proposed to remain open for further discussion on the option of CA reinstatement. The Election Commission (EC) today said that the government needed to appoint election commissioners within a month if elections were to hold in April as proposed by some political parties.
