Riots Continue in Kashmir

August 14, 2010: four people were killed, and a number of others were injured in Kashmir after the clashes between the protestors against the Indian rule in Kashmir and the security on Friday, August 13, 2010, dampening the Ramadan the holy festive Muslims celebrate not drinking and eating from sunrise to sunset for a month.

According to the BBC NEWS, young people have been at the forefront of the demonstrations; two of those killed were teenagers taking part in protests in the town of Sopore, north of Srinagar; other demonstrators were killed in the towns of Trehhgam and Pattan; hundreds of thousands of troops are based in Kashmir to fight a two-decade-long insurgency against Indian rule; the mainly Muslim territory has been the centre point of two of India's three wars against Pakistan since both countries won independence in 1947.
