Attracting Chinese Investment To Nepal

September 11, 2011: talking to the delegation of Nepal-China Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NCCCI) yesterday, Prime Minister Dr. Bhattarai has said that the government would make efforts on attracting large investors from China to Nepal at the suggestion of the delegation, ‘The Rising Nepal’ of today writes. Leader of the delegation Rajesh Kazi Shrestha has made suggestions to the Prime Minister to enhance the bilateral economic, trade and investment between Nepal and China.

Leader of the delegation Shrestha has suggested that the Chinese investments should be in banking, education, hydropower, information technologies and tourism, as such investments would be instrumental to the development of the country.

In addition, Mr. Shrestha also has pointed out the possibility of export from Nepal to China fully taking the benefits of the duty free on some items offered by the Government of China. To this end, he has suggested to set up a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Nepal.
